Editorial Photography Shoot at Boca Raton Resort

On location at the Boca Raton Resort and Club — and what makes a resort image read as editorial instead of stock.

Recently we did a shoot at the Boca Raton Resort and Club for editorial use. The shoot took place on the grounds of one of Florida's most photographed resorts — which is exactly the challenge: every angle has been shot, every fountain, every corridor. The job of an editorial photographer is to find the frame nobody else has bothered with.

Editorial vs. stock

Stock photography answers the question "what does a resort look like?" Editorial photography answers "what does this resort feel like on a Wednesday afternoon in November?" One is a description. The other is a point of view.

Our editorial photography sessions lean into narrative — light and shadow, the guest at the edge of the frame, the detail that makes a spread work as a story instead of a brochure.
