Canadian passport requirements are stricter than U.S. photos: 50mm × 70mm print size, 31–36mm face height, plain white or light-grey background, and the stamps on the back plus the guarantor signature line on the back — this varies depending on the type.

Two printed photos with the required back-of-photo stamps formatting; the digital copy is additional.

Also valid for Canadian citizenship applications, permanent resident cards, and NEXUS.

Do you know how to do the Canadian passport photos correctly?

We are on the Canadian list of approved photographers. We have been doing them since 1986.

Can I just show up to your studio without an appointment?

No — an appointment is necessary. Please email or call 561-923-8024 or 561-394-8399.

Is it by appointment?

Yes — only by appointment. Please call or email us to schedule.

What are our business hours?

It varies because we may be on a location photoshoot and not in the studio. Usually 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Mon–Fri, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Sat, closed Sun. You MUST have an appointment.

Do you take Canadian infant passport photos?

Yes — an appointment is necessary.

How long will I wait to get the passport photos?

Most printed passport photos are ready the next day — pick up at the studio or we can mail them. The shoot takes 5–10 minutes; extra time is needed for infants/babies and colored backgrounds. You can preview and approve the picture before we print it; we re-shoot until you're pleased, but once printed it's yours.

Do you process the passport application as well?

No. Only the government does that. We provide the photos, sized and printed to spec for your Canadian application.

§ Specifications

Seven Types of Canadian Photos

It is your responsibility to specify which type of Canadian passport photo you require — we do 7 different types with 4 different sizes, so please tell us when ordering. Do NOT wear a white shirt or tank top, and no smiling.

1. Canadian Passport Photos

Photos must be taken by a commercial photographer.

The name of the photographer or studio, the address, and the date the photo was taken (not the date it was printed) must be provided directly on the back of one photo — in some cases both. Photos must have no subject shadow on the background, and the background must be white. Size: 50mm × 70mm (2in × 3in). We stamp Canadian passport pictures with our stamp per spec on the back of one of the two photos. Check if you need a GUARANTOR signature as well. Photos must be originals — not taken from an existing photo.

Do NOT wear a white shirt or tank top. No smile.

2. Canadian Citizenship Photo

To become Canadian.

3. Canadian Visa Photo — Appendix B

Non-immigrant work visa, Appendix B, Application for permanent residence (skilled worker) or tourist.

Two of 35mm × 45mm — head size chin to crown 31mm to 36mm.

4. Canada 'PR' Permanent Resident Card

Photos must be taken by a commercial photographer.

Name of the photographer or studio, address, and the date the photo was taken (not the date it was printed) must be provided directly on the back of one photo — in some cases both. No subject shadow on the background, white background required. Size: 50mm × 70mm (2in × 3in). We stamp per spec on the back of one of the two photos. Check if you need a GUARANTOR signature. Originals only — not taken from an existing photo.

Do NOT wear a white shirt, glasses, or a tank top. No smile.
