Your Shoot Guide
What to wear, when to arrive, and how to get the most out of your session at Lloyd's Studio.
Arrive 10 minutes early with clothes on hangers and a short list of the looks that matter most. Solid colors and simple patterns photograph better than busy prints; bring two or three options in different necklines.
Skip anything with logos unless it's for a branding shoot. Iron everything the night before. If you're doing hair and makeup with us, come with a clean face and dry hair.
Bring water, a snack, and a phone charger. Sessions run 60 to 120 minutes; we'll pace it so you never feel rushed.
Photo-shoot tips & advice
Makeup
Ladies, wear your regular everyday makeup and bring a lipstick for touch-ups between looks. If our professional makeup artist is doing your face, you can arrive either with your regular makeup on or with clean skin — both work. For gentlemen, our MUA handles dark circles, blemishes, and any small distractions the camera would exaggerate; men's makeup for photography is designed to be invisible on camera.
Wardrobe
Dark, well-fitted suits photograph best — avoid loud patterns that fight for attention. Bring extra jackets, blouses, shirts, and ties so we can build several distinct looks in one session; we'll help you pick what photographs strongest. If the final image will be a three-quarter or headshot crop, keep the full outfit consistent from the waist up so nothing pulls the eye.
Photo editing
You want to look good — everyone does. We hear "I never look good in pictures" all the time, and our answer is expert, natural retouching. From softening wrinkles to hiding braces and evening out skin, we deliver what we call the "refreshed look": you, on a good day, not you with a filter on. Retouching is included in select packages and available as an add-on for any session.
Ladies
For a formal look, bring a conservative dark jacket, then something more modern in a brighter color for range. Pack a couple of extra blouses in different colors — variety photographs well and gives us options on set. Keep jewelry simple and understated, but feel free to bring several pieces; the right accent can pull a look together.
Gentlemen
Make sure your shirts fit — this matters most when you want jacket-off frames. Collars should sit cleanly at the neck, not too tight and not too loose. For jackets, check that you can cross your arms comfortably and that the shoulder seams sit where they should. A properly fitted shirt and jacket does more for a headshot than any retouching ever could.
